Hey Kids!
Got clutter? Or just not in the flow of things? Here’s your chance to get all your organizing questions answered. Just post in the comment section what it is that is cluttering up your life, sucking up your time or just plain getting on your nerves.
I will give you advice, tips, recommendations for tools and services –all with a dash of humor. (Remember, we’re all in this together–who doesn’t have some organizing issues?)
Looking forward to hearing from you guys!
The Organizing Diva
I have a bunch of areas that I have previously organized. A dresser in our foyer, our junk drawer, and bathroom cabinets to name a few. Now it looks like I didn’t touch them…my problem is a husband:) Is there anyway that you can provide advice on how to keep a good organizational system flowing smoothly?
Hey Latoya,
It’s great that you have started some organizing projects. OK, you need to get your hubby on board with maintenance as well.
Here’s a couple of suggestions after you finish your next organizing project:
• Get him more involved. Walk him through step-by-step with what you have accomplished so far and ask him for his feedback. Is it working for him too? Is it too confusing? What can be done to make it more user-friendly for him?
• Try labeling containers and shelves. Yes, I know this sounds so kindergarten, but it’s hard to put back and item in the “wrong” place when the “right” place is so blatantly labeled.
• Use containers and drawer organizers whenever possible to “containerize” stuff. For example, purchase some plastic drawer organizers (from The Container Store and StacksandStacks.com) of various sizes for that junk drawer. Maybe everything won’t be perfectly organized but at least the stuff will be “contained” in some ways.
Hope that these ideas help.
I have boxes full of pictures that are still in the envelopes. (Remember those? Old school film developing!!)
I am overwhelmed by the magnitude of this project. How can I tackle it?
