Every August, I ask my readers and blog visitors to ask themselves: What do I want my life to look like? Meaning, how do you envision your ideal life? I know, this exercise is somewhat difficult fora lot of people. But how are you gonna get there, if you don’t know what “there” looks like? Let’s do this visualization exercise when you have a few free moment
To begin with, close your eyes. So the first part of this exercise, is to have gratitude for everything we do have at this moment. I begin my morning with an “attitude of gratitude” prayer–even for the mundane, ordinary stuff–before I get out of bed. You never know when your routine, regular stuff in your life might be compromised. Be grateful for what you have.
Next, I want you to envision all the things that you want in your life. Would you like to make improvements or changes to your life? In order for goals and dreams to come true, one needs to specifically envision the details. But here’s the really important part: now feel the feelings as if you already had all those things that you are envisioning. Take a mental/emotional snapshot of those feelings and memorize them. This is part of the Law of Attraction. We tend to attract that which we are focused on. And typically our emotions run our program and how we make decisions.
Sometimes, a Vision Board can help you envision what you want your life to look like or “post” gratitude for what you already have and love. Your Vision Board can have simple things: what you want your home to look like; being with friends and family; getting physically fit; trying out new hobbies, like gardening, cooking, playing tennis; anything, really.
Some people create hard copy Vision Boards with torn out pictures and collage words to portray their dreams and goals. Many people use Pinterest to create these vision boards by “pinning” and “repinning” images and videos from the web or your computer/device onto your own “board”.
What would your Vision Board look like? Try to be specific so it reflects how it makes you feel when you look at it. Find fun and creative images to inspire you. Study your images on your boards; create some action steps to achieve your goals; and then they will eventually become part of your reality.
You can follow me on Pinterest to see my August vision board. BTW, I finally got my own Stand Up Paddle Board that had been on my previous Vision Boards. Yeh!
